Scsi Hard Disk Drive Standard

In 1986, SCSI standard and the ATA standard both were introduced in the same year. Enhancements have been made in SCSI standard especially in the critical areas like the bus speed, speed, quantity of devices that can be attached and the bus speed. SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) is called as scuzzy. Small Computer System Interface like SATA (Serial Ata) or ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) can be utilized for other purposes rather than just connecting the hard disk drives to the computers like connection of other peripherals that include scanners, printers, optical drives and tape drives.  

Host Adapter is needed so that the SCSI Hard Drive could be connected to the motherboard. Besides being a processing center, this acts more like gateway for transferring data. When heavy data is being processed, the resources of the system remain freed up because of the SCSI controller. The bulk of work is done by the individual hard drive controllers. The individual Scsi Hard disk does not require power from CPU and therefore can directly communicate. On the other hand the SATA or Ata Hard drives depend on the processing of the system for communications. Scsi Adapter has the capacity to support up to fifteen hard disks or other devices.

There are different physical connections that are used by the hard drives for connecting to the system. Blocks of pin connection called as headers and are located on the latest desktop motherboards. They support the SATA connector (7 pin) or/and the ATA connector (40 pin). Built-in adapters are found in high end motherboards because of the specialized features of SCSI. The number of header pins may be 80, 68, 50 or 25 which depends on the type and age. SCSI adapters (stand alone) are available for slots of PCI-X or PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect). They can be chosen to match the hard disks on hand.  

Cables with which the SCSI hard drives are connected are also different not on the basis of the quantity of pins required for connection but also due to the number of hard disks on one channel. More hard disks can be added to the SCSI channel by chaining the cables together. At the end of line, a device needs to be installed so that the channel can detect the chain’s end. Terminator is used for this purpose. This cable has a terminator that is removable. Three connectors are featured in this cable for the Scsi Ultra-160 hard disks. Each hard drive has set of switches or jumpers so that the system can identify all the devices on a Small Computer System Interface bus.

SCSI-ID or unique value is required by each of the hard disk. Unique value is made possible by configuration of the jumpers. SCSI-ID on a system that is able to support sixteen devices will translate number which would be between zero and fifteen. SCSI-1 standard was parallel interface. SCSI-1 offered 5 MB/sec transfer speed on 5 megahertz, 8-bit wide bus. This 1 controller channel could connect up to eight devices. SCSI ultra-320 is also parallel interface. SCSI ultra-320 supports 320 MB/sec transfer rate on 40 megahertz, 16-bit wide bus. Sixteen devices can be connected by the adapter on one channel. These devices normally are 15 hard disks and 1 adapter. ATA 133 standard is parallel interface. It supports up to 133MB/s Data Transfer speed on 33-MHz, 16-bit wide bus. One channel of ATA 133 can connect two devices.

My computer says I have a Gateway e-4000, but my serial number says Gateway 500 S Plus .. Im confused?

According to Crucial.com's scans, Lyalyst Everest Home edition, and msinfo32.exe, my computer is a Gateway e-4000. But the serial numbeer on the front and back of my computer case says I'm using a Gateway 500S Plus. I'm not sure what to belive, because i'm buying new RAM and I don't wanna get the wrong thing.

Gateway has a way of double posting computers. Your best bet is to go to the Gateway site and let it scan your system...then act accordingly.

Samsung UN55B8500 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LED HDTV - Super HDTV Review

Clarify my own TV and are not only monitoring of the time in charge. TV has been especially difficult, and where I found that the share purchase is part of. Best of local Magnolia.

Design: Samsung is best known for designing luxury and television, this exception no. Samsung claims to have contact with charcoal color, but I really do not notice any color frame. XBR8 in terms of image quality with most, but not always with 8500 more realistically, if you have one of these files in your home to see beauty. Blacks are dark in 8500 to near the level of blacks in the best TV. In the darkroom, I can not tell the TV screen over and he ran because the screen is so dark. Color and beauty to enhance any number of ways according to your wishes. I prefer "natural mode" for everyday use and movie "mode, check the Blu-ray. 240Hz refresh is good but the best is that you can independently control the color and vibration and settings. You can buy a Samsung Usb Cable be connected to wireless networks or TV you can connect Ethernet Cable directly after TV. I have a wireless Ethernet connection directly to the back of it. The first tool that does not load quickly. I do not know why, but the line to the Internet directly to TV does not load quickly. I have no idea why they are slooow. Slow enough to be intoxicated and not used much. It's strange because when I go to tools, tube and more rapid and smooth video playback. Hope that Samsung will have a software update tool to load faster. Right now I would say they are just novelty. If you can reduce time and increase the burden is more like Facebook, I think it has potential. But people do not buy this TV because the image is purchased.

Overall I think this is good TV. It's expensive, yes. Is the best picture of all LCDs, yes. If you have money it is much TV. I use the Harmony One remote and works perfectly with this program. PS3 games and blu-ray's perfect. Quibble I have a TV, mirror screen and a set of more room than my own TV. If I see football, HD, gaming PS3, blu-ray movie or visit the office, I am amazed by this program can provide images.

am planing to purchase a flat TV.I am firm on purchasing a Samsung product.I want suggestion(with proper justification)regarding samsung UA46B6000VR LED and 46B750 LCD.both are in my budget range.Which TV should i opt for?

LEDs are an evolution of LCD technology, as LEDs in televisions refer to the LCD's backlight. Whereas conventional LCD televisions use CCFL (Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Light), newer technology has been developed to create a more efficient, better quality backlight. However, there are two types of LED backlights: Back-lit LEDs and Edge-lit LEDs.

Edge-lit LEDs have the advantage of allowing a thinner monitor, as the bulbs are arranged on the sides and the light emitted is spread across the whole monitor. This allows for deeper black levels that conventional LCDs don't have (e.g. the 46B750). Unfortunately, Edge-lit LED LCD televisions can suffer from cloudiness and worse viewing angles than normal LCDs, which is why back-lit LEDs are preferred. However, at the moment, Samsung is only manufacturing Edge-lit LEDs (unless the 9000 series is back-lit).

The biggest advantage of back-lit LED LCD TVs (such as the Samsung A950, LG LH90 and the Sony XBR8) is the ability to locally dim, meaning that the LEDs at certain sections of the television can be dimmed or turned off, corresponding to the image shown (if there was a bright city at night with a black sky above, the LEDs behind the black sky can be turned off) creating extremely deep blacks that neither edge-lit LEDs nor conventional fluorescent lights can produce. The only downside is minor blooming around edges that contrast greatly in brightness.

Personally, I'd wait for this year's back-lit LED LCD televisions to be released and see which TV is best. However, with the televisions listed above, the pros and cons (from cnet.com) are the following:

Pros:
Reproduces deep black levels; accurate color, commendable picture uniformity for an LCD; very good dejudder processing; extensive feature set with Yahoo Widgets, network streaming and built-in content; solid connectivity with four HDMI and one PC input.
Cons:
Somewhat expensive; benefits of 240Hz difficult to discern; dark areas tinged bluer; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; no S-Video inputs.

B6000
Pros:
Produces relatively deep black levels; accurate color; very good dejudder processing; sleek styling with 1.2-inch thick panel; extensive picture controls; extremely energy-efficient.
Cons:
Expensive; less-uniform screen than other LCDs; poor off-angle viewing; backlight fluctuates with program brightness; dark areas tinged bluer; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; red frame isn't for everyone.

As for the second question, it's uncertain if LED bulbs are the definitive way to solving the problems of current LCD televisions such as poor black levels, however, they are certainly a major improvement over conventional bulbs, and are closer to matching the contrast of Plasma and CRT televisions.

Car Emergency Preparedness - When the Going Gets Tough!

If you own a vehicle, as most of us do these days, it is important to keep an emergency survival kit in it at all times. It should be kept someplace where it can be easily accessed (perhaps under the front passenger seat). Since you are usually located within close proximity of your vehicle, you can easily gain immediate access to your emergency supplies in a disaster situation.

Many types of disasters can strike while you are in your car - snow or ice storms in winter, floods in spring, and hurricanes, tornados or lightning storms in summer and fall. Your survival will depend on how well you have prepared ahead.

Just like a home emergency survival kit, every car emergency kit should contain the basics - water, food, shelter, warmth and first aid for one person (or family) to survive for 72 hours. Basic tools for car repair and maintenance should also be included. When you create your emergency car kit, you can personalize it to your own needs. You may need to add an extra pair of glasses, baby or pet items or prescription medications.

Your car survival kit should be in a backpack or bag small enough to fit in your car. It should include:

• Food (granola bars, dried fruit, crackers, etc. - avoid items that will melt or spoil quickly) and water for 72 hours - keep all items well sealed
• Blankets (wool is best but if it is too itchy try a solar blanket) or a down sleeping bag
• Hat (most heat is lost through the head), scarf, mittens (best) or gloves, boots (extra clothing}
• First-aid kit - including personal medications
• AM/FM radio and extra batteries or hand crank type (no batteries required)
• Candles and waterproof matches or a lighter
• Flashlight and spare batteries or hand crank type
• Toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper
• Soap and/or hand sanitizer
• Pet supplies and proper documentation (license, immunization records)
• Antifreeze to keep the gas from freezing - can also be used in place of windshield wiper fluid
• Axe or hatchet (a hammer might also be useful)
• Compass and maps
• Type ABC fire extinguisher
• Ice scraper, shovel, brush
• Booster or jumper cables, tow chain, traction mats
• Basic car repair kit
• Sand or salt for tire traction - kitty litter also works well
• Duct tape and knife or multi-purpose tool
• Warning lights, road flares or a strip of red cloth to tie on to the car antenna
• Cell Phone
• Whistle
• Playing cards, books, games or other items that do not require batteries

You may want to add a few items to be used in case of an accident. Some extra items may include a disposable camera, and a pad of paper and pencil or pen to record the scene and any witness information.

Some personal items might also come in handy. You might want to consider the following:

• Blush, lipstick and mascara
• Razor and shaving cream
• Sanitary knapkins and/or tampons
• Hairbrush or comb

These items are not necessarily essential to your survival but they can go a long way to improving your emotional balance thus helping you to cope with a little more optimism. Let's face it. The better you feel the more likely you will be able to deal with the situation.

Although it can seem like a daunting task to put a survival kit together, it can actually be a very easy and interesting project. The greatest challenge can be organizing your kit with the least amount of layout of cash. Start by looking around your home for those items you already have. Add a few items each week if you need to buy things. Food and water are the most important items, followed by a blanket or sleeping bag for keeping warm. If you are not interested in organizing your own kit, you can purchase one already made and just add any extra items you want included in your pack.

One important tip: Remember to always let someone know what time you left and what time you expect to arrive at your destination. By taking these precautions, you can prepare your family for an emergency and feel more confident as you travel.
